Ágnes Herczku sang pieces of Béla Bartók's arrangements of folk songs on a record in 2007 in a form faithful to the style in which Bartók could hear them during his collecting tours and which served him as an inspiring source. The folk singer organized several very successful concerts and dance theater evenings, where she and her fellow musicians recreated her relationship with Bartók and folk music again and again, starting from Bartók's music. Next stage in this long process is the online concert at the Urania National Film Theater.
Folk music from the village and piano from the city: seemingly two impenetrable worlds, but with Bartók and the performers of the evening, two mutually reinforcing energies. Another musical specialty of the concert is the dulcimeric transcription - by András Szalay - of several works, originally written for piano. Bartók writes that the special character of folk songs "must first be recognized, felt, and after them similar to the reliefs must embossed during processing, and not allowed obscured." In addition to the tone of the folk song, Ágnes Herczku is now helping this relief-like embossing with this new idea, also by reworking Bartók's “heavyweight” songs, such as the individual movements of the Eight Hungarian Folk Songs and the Twenty Hungarian Folk Songs. The title of the evening is one of the shockingly beautiful pieces of the latter cycle, the Dialogue Song (Pár-ének).
